And sorry we could not see Tire/Honker behind
And yet at the circle, long we stood
And looked down yonder as far as we could
To where in the darkness no more light we could find
Then from the darkness there came a pair
Whose shoes made air whistle and gravel crunch
Yet A-Boot and I could not but stare
Though our companions were fast, to be fair
Twas not them, but Portabella and Brady Bunch
And soon from behind them we did hear a bray
Honker appeared and he, clad in black,
Overtook us the both, but yet in their haste
The three circled twice, so we left on our way
Determined not to let the old men beat us back.
I am telling you this with a sigh
Somewhere hours and hours hence:
Two runners diverged in a suburban hood and I
I gassed out with a mile left to fly
