All of them said just how poorly they'd go
So slowly they set off out into dawn
Absolute amateurs with speedy shoes on
One claimed to hate running, yet what'dya know
He booked 10K+ for the third week in a row
And slowly, so slowly, he crept back to the Y
The slowest sub-9 minute mile he then tried to deny
Another showed up for his first NGT
And languid, nay sluggish! he claimed he would be
Yet Rosie did mosey right well and did win
The speed race against all other PAX who slept in
And finally your humblest bard did attest
His clumsy-most slowness that no other can best
And strangely it seems, despite being the Slow Master
His definition of slow keeps on getting faster
