“BERT” – U.S. Marine Cpl. Albert Gettings, 27, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, died on Jan. 5, 2009, while conducting counter-sniper operations in Fallujah, Iraq. Cpl. Gettings was serving as a team leader with the 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, at the time of his death. Every quarter, Cpl. Gettings’ fellow Marines in Fox Company complete a special CrossFit workout in his honor as part of the Cpl. Albert P. Gettings Award ceremony. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Palimino; parents, David and Juliet; and sister, Cori.

YHC brought this Hero workout to the Westside this morning. No splashing of Merlot. A few shed their shirts. And one didn’t look like he even broke a sweat.
40 Burpees – 400 meter Run (2 laps around the parking lot)
80 Merks – 400 meter Run
120 Walking Lunges – 400 meter Run
160 Air Squats – 400 meter Run

40 Burpees – 400 meter Run
But wait, there’s more. For the PAX that was in first place after the run, he had to do 25 weighted step ups (50#) on a 20” step. Note: Last year’s bleachers during the Chad1000x were only 17 inches. All PAX had their turn with the ruck and plyo box. Doobie had the opportunity to do it twice during the entire evolution.

Continue to lift up Buzz and his family as his father-in-law begins chemo. Also continued prayers for the Barrier family coping with their loss.
