WarmOrama:
Some light stretching, 5 burpees for the rooster and a mosey around the islands before we woke up Cindy.

Tha Thang:
The workout was simple: 5 exercises, 5 reps each, followed by a mobility exercise. The first four exercises never changed:

5 Blockees
5 Cindy Swings
5 Goblet Squats
5 Thrusters

The fifth exercise changed every round and was selected on the spot.

We worked through the first two rounds together, then I challenged the HIM to step up. Several men took turns leading the group, selecting the mystery exercise, and driving the next two rounds. Strong leadership and participation all around.

The mobility portion was intentionally built into the workout. While the exercises were only five reps, the mobility work was no vacation. There was plenty of mumble chatter as we worked through stretches and movements designed to improve flexibility, stability, and recovery.

Throughout the workout, we discussed the growing emphasis military organizations are placing on mobility and recovery. The reality is that many of us spend a lot of time focusing on strength and endurance while neglecting recovery. I shared some of my own experiences with injuries and how consistent mobility work has helped me remain active and continue doing the things I enjoy without being sidelined.

The lesson of the workout was simple: we can continue doing hard things when we recover properly.

COT:
Physical recovery is important, but spiritual recovery is essential.

God established a pattern for us from the very beginning. We work hard, fulfill our responsibilities, care for our families, and carry the burdens placed before us—but we were never intended to run nonstop. God gave us the Sabbath, blessed it, and made it holy. He built rest into His design for our lives.

Being intentional about our relationship with God is part of that recovery process. We need time to worship, reflect, pray, study His Word, and spend time in His presence.

I forgot to mention this during the COT but I want to mention it now. Jesus modeled how to live perfectly. He taught crowds, healed the sick, fed thousands, invested in His disciples, and carried out the mission the Father had given Him. Yet throughout the Gospels, we repeatedly see Him withdrawing to lonely places to pray and spend time with the Father.

If Jesus prioritized time with the Father, how much more should we?

Work hard. Lead well. Take care of your family. Fulfill your responsibilities. But don't neglect the spiritual recovery that God designed for you.
