Attend, good PAX, and lend thine ears this morn,
When autumn chilled the ground beneath our feet.
Four souls arose ere daylight had been born,
To prove that sleep and comfort taste defeat.
Sir BC and 2 Stroke, those eager knaves,
Had run extra miles ere the hour struck five.
What foolish men! What glory do one crave,
To run before the run, just to feel alive?
Then Poodles came, with paws of noble grace,
And Rosie strode, prepared to face the chill.
Whilst summer fled, they took its vacant place,
And dared the dawn to test their iron will.
So toast these fools, whose sanity hath fled:
They rise at dawn to run when sane men lie in bed!
