Ten Rounds

17 PAX gathered for the FORGE workout on a humid Wednesday morning. One definition of FORGE is “to form or make, especially by concentrated effort” – and a lot of effort it was.

Warmup:

Disclaimer provided to remind the PAX to adapt as needed – turns out this was needed. Usual warmups including 21’s, thru-the-tunnels, etc. Honker was unusually quiet during this time. Somebody get him a second cup of joe next time!

The Thang:

YHC’s lack of creativity resulted in a rewind of a workout we’ve used before – but with a small difference. Each PAX was assigned a number 1-17. PAX 1 (YHC) called an exercise (in this case 2 burpees). Mosey to next stopping point. Next round, complete the previous exercise(s) and the next PAX called another exercise with Qty of Reps increasing by 2 each exercise. Mosey in between rounds to the next corner.

In all, ten rounds were completed with the final round consisting of:

2 Burpees, 4 (more) burpees, 6 Peter Parkers, 8 arm raises, 10 Bonnie Blairs, 12 monkey humpers, 14 squats, 16 flutter kicks. 18 bar exercises, 20 American Hammers.

Sounds easy, but the previous 9 rounds made it interesting / exhausting.

Mosey to the flag for some Mary.

COT

YHC neglected to call for Count-O-Rama and Name-O-Rama – no PAX called out The Q on this egregious breach of protocol. Not sure if this was out of politeness or good old fashioned exhaustion.

Don’t forget flag football at the RH AO on Saturday.

Naked Moleskin

DQ mitigated the threat of additional rounds of burpees by calling (4) burpees for round 2. (smart) This worked, although we did not get to Door Jamb’s round (I suspect we’d have done more burpees). Several PAX called for exercises in cadence which effectively doubles the reps for many movements. Norm realized 4ct squats are less painful the faster you go, so he shifted to a double time cadence. (also smart) Quick Crete strayed from the formula by adding pull-up/dips (which are not mobile). Much grumbling and complaining ensued regarding the whole workout and YHC reminded the PAX this was everybody’s doing.
