Splashdown

18 posted on a very humid 78° morning with a hurricane offshore for the first day of our third Theme Week. YHC had hoped for some more rain overnight and into the morning, but nature let us down.

Warmup started with plank and divebombers for a disclaimer and review of the core principles because Swabbie had been out so long (welcome back!). 13 Chinooks, 13 Walkers (hey, I like 13!) and 11 Don Quixotes were followed by a two-line Indian Run to the back lot, and then to the soccer fields.

The first day of Spaceflight Week celebrated the return of the SpaceX Demo-2 mission the previous day, which is why YHC had hoped for some wet weather. Nevertheless, long-duration spaceflight causes muscle atrophy and returning astronauts feel weak upon return to gravity. This routine was intended to push Pax to failure on the various exercises and leave them with weakened feeling at the end. There were 9 stations so Pax divided in pairs and did one rotation through each station, with 2:30 intervals.

  • Station 1: Quick pull up, with a slow let-down (rocket up, parachute down)
  • Station 2: Walking lunges
  • Station 3: Double burpees
  • Station 4: Squats
  • Station 5: Hand-release Merkins
  • Station 6: WWIIs
  • Station 7: Picnic table lifts
  • Station 8: box jumps/step-ups on the picnic tables
  • Station 9: Box cutters

Immediately after completing all nine stations, Pax moseyed back to the flag. Countarama, namearama. Swabbie was welcomed back; his dad is back home from the hospital but still recovering. Pledge, pray, and on the way. YHC has Q for Wednesday.
